SMT Hautes Technologies Adds Advantis AC-90T, Augments Partnership with Universal
SMT Hautes Technologies has further leveraged its alliance with Universal Instruments to enhance the company’s capabilities and bolster its position as a leading-edge EMS provider. SMT Hautes has purchased an Advantis® AC-90T Platform for its Montreal, Canada production facility, extending its growing Universal Instruments surface mount production portfolio. The new high-speed machine is currently achieving 3X the throughput in half the footprint of the previous equipment set.
April 10, 2012 - SMT Hautes Technologies is a global EMS provider specializing in quick turn for high-end complex electronics assemblies. The company’s solutions range from prototyping to high-volume requirements for an established global base of world-class customers. SMT Hautes features a dynamic, experienced workforce and 100% automated final inspection to deliver the highest-quality end-products to its customers.
The new platform represents a continued reliance on Universal Instruments’ equipment by SMT Hautes, as the company purchased both Advantis and Genesis Platform solutions in 2008 and 2011 respectively. Stephane Deschesnes, SMT Hautes’ President, endorses the newest acquisition, “As we continue our push to be more flexible and ever more capable, the AC-90T enables us to achieve both, thereby improving the value proposition to our customer base as we drive to be one of the premier manufacturers in North America. This further validates the strength of our partnership with Universal as a means of growing our company.”
SMT Hautes’ Director of Sales, Michael Simpson, notes, “The superb performance of our existing Universal equipment made this newest platform the right choice for us and the results have confirmed the selection. The AC-90T has been accurately placing the 0201 and 01005 passives that our previous equipment set could not, while doing so at a higher throughput rate and occupying a fraction of the floor space. Its breadth of capabilities has given us the ability to quote a much greater range of customer requirements. The new platform was also easily assimilated with the other Universal equipment in our production environment by means of common NPI, programming and optimization software, as well as common feeders.”
Universal’s Vice President of Sales, Brad Bennett, comments, “Continuing to build our relationship with SMT Hautes by integrating multiple generations of our SM platforms is a testament to the versatility of our product offering. We now have both Genesis and Advantis Platforms delivering results at the highest level in the same manufacturing environment. We’re very pleased to work with SMT Hautes as they evolve their high-technology, future-ready production model.”
