Polaris Automates Multiple Processes for a Diverse Range of Products

The Polaris Assembly Cell delivers the versatility to address a wide range of applications on the same platform. A standard interface and quick-release tool modules provide an easy transition from one product to another. And, Polaris has the ability to perform multiple operations on the same cell, making it a wise investment for today's diverse manufacturing environments.

Application Examples

• Underside Screw Driving - Two different automotive panels: a 3-up panel with two antennas and one connector per board, and a 4-up panel with two antennas, one connector, and one radial component per board. One of the connectors needed to be screwed in from the bottom with two screws.



• Dispense and Die Place - Pressure sensor application, including adhesive gasket, adhesive for IC attach, and hermetic seal dispense. Also required was placement of an electronic circuit on a ceramic substrate and a 2.2mm x 2.2mm x 1.9mm IC, from a wafer. All steps in the manufacturing process required full traceability.



• Auger Dispensing - A pressure sensor assembly process requiring dispense for attaching chip capacitors and sensor ICs. These materials were dispensed before the product went into a GSM® Platform for part placement.



• Large Label Placement - Large label placement on a ceramic substrate for use in setting up screen printers without printing the dielectric material directly on the ceramic boards. Printing directly on the boards had resulted in wasting the expensive ceramic substrates.
